The Route:

(from Kris' email)

The trip starts at the Acray Campground on Grand Lake, the entrance point is about 30min. from Petawawa. A 30m portage gets us into a easy paddle on Stratton Lake. Just off of Stratton Lake is High Falls, a natural "water park" fun for swimming in the summer. From Stratton Lake a 45m portage leads in St.Andrews Lake, a 550m portage leads to High Falls Lake. A small water fall pours into High Falls Lake and creates quite an excellent atmosphere for a good nights sleep. A 530m portage leads to Ooze lake, Yes that is Ooze Lake and the name was chosen for a reason. Another 640m portage leads to Opalescent Lake, from the last of the large portages at 740m leads around the Brigham chute (only one person have ever survived this set of rapids) into the start of the Barron River. The Barron river is likely the highlight of the trip 100m cliffs to the left and right of the river create a very scenic gorge.
